Hyper Tensions - Evil Seeds LP Vinyl

Info

"Evil Seeds is the newest full-length album by the Hyper Tensions. The approach to recording this album was simple. Everyone in the same room playing together. No isolation, no baffling, no going direct with digital amp simulators. Just a band in a room with amps blasting and microphones capturing the performance. After the foundation was laid, vocals were recorded along with some additional auxiliary instrumentation.
On the surface "Evil Seeds" is a fun punk record with heavy psych and garage influences. Upon closer listening, you will notice the album is full of sonic gems to reward the listener.
Heavily saturated guitar amps with crunchy acoustic guitars on top. Solos traded back and forth. Fuzzed out ratty bass. Distorted, modulating, and delayed vocals dripping with reverb. Paranoid mumbling and outright explosive screaming about drug induced mania, countered with the occasional vocal harmony. Precise and dynamic drumming drives the energetic performances along with plenty of added auxiliary percussion such as tambourine, guiro, and giant cymbal swells. Not to mention the piano, harmonica, organ, and synths jam-packed in here as well!
All of this is meticulously mixed by Rebore's own Brett Siler, riding a fine line between clarity and their mutual love of old school filth and grime. The end result is an album that is catchy enough to put on at a party but dense enough for a rewarding deep listen.
